Kristen Bounds

Kristen is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapy (LMFT) in North Carolina. Originally from Ohio, she pursued her Bachelor’s degree at Kent State University before relocating to the Raleigh area in 2005. Initially working in the environmental laboratory industry, her true calling lay in helping others through therapy which led her to achieve her Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Northcentral University.

Kristen specializes in working with individuals and couples who are impacted by anxiety, shame, self-identity, grief, and medical diagnoses. As a couple’s therapist, Kristen specializes in sex therapy, ethical non-monogamy, codependency, and trauma. Creating a warm, calm and authentic environment, Kristen supports individuals of all identities and relationships of all forms. 

For couples wanting to enrich their marriage or plan for a long-term successful relationship, Kristen is a certified Prepare/Enrich facilitator. For those who are hurting and are uncertain of their relationship future, Kristen provides discernment counseling support. When navigating difficult transitions or embarking on a new phase of life, Kristen will walk alongside you with curiosity, support, and non-judgment.

Kristen pulls from narrative therapy, solution-focused therapy, and attachment theories. She prioritizes creating a safe environment for clients to explore their wants, needs, desires, and the origins of the messages that they have received about themselves, others, and relationships. With an eye for design, you will be sure to love the warmth and greenery filling her office.


Kristen provides in-person sessions in Durham, NC, and offers telehealth throughout the state of NC.
