Sarah Dotzler

Sarah is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Associate (LCMHCA) specializing in working with adults 18 and older. Originally from New York, Sarah obtained her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the State University of New York (SUNY) at Oswego. She went on to complete her Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Long Island University at Post.

Sarah specializes in working with anxiety, major and persistent depression, grief and loss, trauma, OCD, premenstrual dysphoric disorder, relationship struggles, and adjustment issues. She also provide care for neurodivergent individuals and the LGBTQIA+ communities specifically with regard to gender affirming care.

When working with couples, Sarah pulls from the Gottman method to support couples who are struggling with affair recovery, improving connection, sex therapy/intimacy concerns, communication, adjusting to parenthood, improving conflict patterns, and rebuilding trust. Sarah enjoys working with premarital couples as they establish a strong relationship foundation, including navigating partner differences and discussing relationship expectations. 

Sarah uses a client centered approach with an aim of meeting her clients where they are at to best help them with their current needs. Her therapeutic approaches include cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), and solution focused therapy. Sarah values a therapeutic environment that cultivates trust, empathy, unconditional positive regard and the absence of judgment. She works to ensure that her clients feel safe, accepted, heard and valued.

Having relocated to the coast, Sarah offers in-office appointments in Wilmington, and telehealth appointments throughout the state of North Carolina.
