Ethical Non-Monogamy/Consensual Non-Monogamy

Have you or your partner ever been curious about—or considered exploring—non-traditional relationship structures?
Are you interested in exploring the risks and benefits of non-monogamy while expanding your romantic and sexual connections?
Are you curious about exploring ENM/CNM but concerned it might affect your current relationship?
Are you worried about social and societal stigmas or discrimination?
Do you need help/support navigating complex emotions of ENM/CNM?

What is CNM/ENM?

CNM (Consensual Non-Monogamy) and ENM (Ethical Non-Monogamy) are umbrella terms for relationship structures in which people engage in romantic and/or sexual connections with more than one person, with the knowledge and consent of everyone involved. CNM/ENM can include a range of relationship styles, such as polyamory, open relationships, relationship anarchy, and swinging. Although relationship structures can vary, the focus remains on consent, open communication, and treating all partners with respect and thoughtful consideration.

How will therapy help?

Therapy can support individuals and partners exploring ENM by helping clarify motivations and values, strengthen communication, and establish clear, sustainable boundaries and agreements.  It also provides tools to navigate jealousy, insecurity, and trust concerns, address stigma or shame, explore attachment patterns, and work through sexual health and intimacy concerns.  Ultimately, therapy offers a supportive space to approach ENM with intention, fostering relationships grounded in consent, clarity, and mutual respect.

At FSWC, we proudly support diverse relationship structures with clinicians who are trained, educated, and experienced in providing affirming, nonjudgmental care. We are committed to fostering healthy relationships by promoting safe, effective communication and creating a welcoming space to explore and better understand the factors that shape non-monogamous relationships. Our therapists offer compassionate guidance and steady support as you navigate these conversations, helping you communicate your desires with clarity and confidence while honoring you and your partner(s)’ needs and boundaries.
